Day of Reflection: Commemorating 175th anniversary of the Miami Tribe's removal from their homelands
"This ground beneath our feet is home, a place where countless generations of our ancestors left footprints as they lived their lives until a fateful period in the history of this country," Chief Lankford said. "And though Myaamia people had lived in this vast homeland region since time immemorial, the stroke of (President Andrew Jackson’s) pen permanently altered our destiny."

"Industrial Strength Bluegrass" - an initiative of Miami Regionals Appalachian Studies program - wins 2021 Album of the Year by the International Bluegrass Music Association
'Industrial Strength Bluegrass" won 2021 Album of the Year by the International Bluegrass Association (IBA), announced Sept. 29. The landmark recording on the Smithsonian Folkways label was produced by local musician and broadcaster Joe Mullins in March, in a collaboration with the Miami University Regionals Appalachian Studies program.

Family of Miami student who suffered a stroke credits doctors and quick actions of housemates for speedy recovery
Miami University junior Will Olson suffered a stroke the night of Tuesday, Sept. 7, while relaxing with friends at their South Campus Avenue house. Thanks to his housemates’ quick actions, Olson was back at school less than a week later with no sign of mental or physical deficit.
