U.S. News & World Report selects Miami University as a top 50 public school

Miami University has again been named a top 50 public school among national universities by U.S. News & World Report.

Miami is No. 48 in public schools, according to the U.S. News & World Report 2022-2023 Best Colleges rankings. The university is No. 105 among all national universities, public and private, and earned spots on multiple Best Colleges lists.

In undergraduate teaching, Miami remains near the top. The university is tied for fifth with Arizona State University among public schools in Best Undergraduate Teaching and is 18th overall in this category, tied with Arizona State and Harvard University.

“Miami is dedicated to preparing our students for success beyond college,” Miami President Gregory Crawford said. “Our faculty and staff create experiences in and out of the classroom that prepare students to thrive in a global society. To be recognized as one of the top 50 public universities in the nation reflects our commitment to student success and academic excellence.”

In addition, Miami is considered one of the “Most Trusted Universities” in a special report by Morning Consult’s Most Trusted Brands 2022 and is the top-ranked institution in Ohio on the list (and 60th overall).

In other U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges categories, Miami is:

  • No. 2 among public national universities (excluding military institutions) in Best Undergraduate Engineering – No Doctorate (No. 35 overall)
  • No. 9 in Learning Communities
  • No. 46 among public schools in Best Colleges for Veterans (No. 67 overall)
  • No. 47 among public schools in Best Undergraduate Business (No. 73 overall)

U.S. News & World Report rankings are based on several points of data as well as reputation. The “Most Trusted Universities” report took the top 135 doctoral research universities featured in the 2022 U.S. News & World Report Best National University Rankings and conducted surveys to sort the universities by net trust.

“From involving both undergraduate and graduate students in significant research to guiding their work with real-world clients, our faculty are ensuring that our students graduate with all the skills they need to be successful professionals and global citizens,” said Elizabeth Mullenix, interim provost and senior vice president for academic affairs.
