1798 - Doctor of Divinity, University of Edinburgh.
1798-1802 - Studied theology with Prof. Lawson at Selkirk, Scotland.
1802 (September) - Sailed with Dr. J. M. Mason to America.
1803-14 - Pastor of Associated Reformed Presbyterian Churches at Ebenezer and New Providence, Kentucky.
1803-24 - Professor, Transylvania University, Lexington, Kentucky.
1811-13 - Editor of Evangelical Record and Western Review.
1819 (October) - Joined the Presbyterian Church
1819-23 - Pastor of McCord church, Lexington, Kentucky.
1824-41 - President and Professor of Logic, Moral Philosophy, and History, Miami University, Oxford, Ohio
1825-41 - Reorganized Presbyterian Church in Oxford and Pastor
1841-45 - Continued as Professor of History and Political Science at Miami University
1845-55 - President, Farmer's College, College Hill, Ohio.
1855 (April 29) - Died, College Hill, Ohio.
